  Did You Know?  

 
  • The number of people with Alzheimer's is 4.6 million, and that is projected to triple by 2050.
  • The risk of having Alzheimer's increases with age.
  • 50% of people living to age 85 will likely have Alzheimer's.
  • Alzheimer's Disease effects the whole family system.  It is a disease that does not discriminate; persons from every walk of life, every ethnic group, and every income level may be impacted.
  • There is no single or definitive diagnostic test for the disease.
  • Caregivers for someone with Alzheimer's Disease are more likely to be clinically depressed.
  • Alzheimer's is a fatal disease and there is currently no cure.  One may live with the disease for an average of 8-10 years.
  • There are around 50 types of dementia and the Alzheimer's type accounts for 60% of all dementia.

There is likely an Alzheimer's patient or family member in your church.
