MUSICIAN AT SOUTH END PC
South End Presbyterian Church has a position available for a skilled musician to enhance the church’s music ministry.
Purpose: The Church Musician is expected to enhance the church’s Music Ministry by working with the choir choirs in their growth and development.
Responsibilities:
● To prepare the choir for weekly services by conducting rehearsals that will
address the sacred and seasonal calendar;
● To play for special services: such as Revival, Church Anniversary, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve services;
● To assist with the coordination of music to be used with Drama and Art, as a part of worship;
● To secure a replacement pianist/musician when absent from weekly duties.
● To be able to play from worship aids used by the congregation and choir in
worship.
Accountability: The Church Musician will be accountable to the pastor, as supervisor.
Knowledge of performance will be shared by the Pastor with the Music and Worship Committee and the Committee on Administration and Personnel (APC).
Assessments/Evaluation: Periodical assessments (at least quarterly) will be done by the Administration and Personnel Committee with representation from the Committee of Music and Worship. An evaluation will be done annually and reported to the Council.
Grievances/Conflict Procedures: When there is a grievance that needs to be
addressed, the musician shall meet with the Pastor. If the issue is not resolved then it can be presented to the Administration and Personnel Committee (with representation from the Music and Worship Committee). The final avenue for resolving any grievance will be handled by the Session.
Compensation: Compensation for the position will be shared at the time of the interview.
